Overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean under the protective shade of a native ohi’a forest, our family tends our coffee, avocado and fruit trees. Living on a farm on the Big Island of Hawaii is filled with daily tasks. There is coffee to pick, a garden to attend, and guests to pamper. Rather than a work schedule we have to follow, it is a lifestyle we have chosen. A lifestyle that weaves together work, play, food, family, and the land.
Our transitional organic farm (certification process complete in 12/10) is run with earth-friendly practices. All the plants, animals and tasks on the farm serve to sustain one another. Our resident chickens and goats not only provide eggs and milk for us to enjoy, but they also help to control the farm’s weed and pest population during their free-range days. Renewable energy systems, sustainable living practices, and “beyond organic” farming increase our desire to be responsible for the earth and live with the measured pace of nature.
Let us share a little bit of our farm and the aloha spirit with you.
E luana wale ana nō.
Just enjoying ourselves.
